Hi, my name is Kishan Patel from atlasRFIDstore.com. Today, we are going to walk through all the steps that are involved in setting up the ThingMagic Sargas 2-port UHF RFID Reader.
First, we are going to setup all the hardware pieces that you will need. Then, in the next video, we are going to download the ThingMagic URA and set up our PC or laptop to connect to the reader.
In order to read and write tags with the ThingMagic Sargas reader, you will need the following items:
- ThingMagic Sargas 2-Port UHF RFID Reader
- Power supply
- Ethernet cable
- UHF RFID Antenna (we are using the MTI MT-242043)
- RP-TNC Male to RP-SMA Male Antenna Table
- Sample Pack of RFID Tags
First, you’ll want to connect the Power Supply to the Sargas. Connect one end of the Power Supply into the Reader’s “Power” port, and then connect the other end into a standard electrical outlet. The Power light on the side of the reader should light up.
Then, you will want to connect the Sargas Reader to your computer using the Ethernet cable. Connect one end of the cable into the “LAN” port on the reader, and then connect the other end into an “Ethernet” port on your PC.
Next, connect your reader to the UHF RFID Antenna by using the RP-TNC Male to RP-SMA Male Antenna cable.
It is important that your antenna cable has the correct connectors for the reader and the antenna that you are using. This MTI MT-242043 Antenna has an RP-TNC Female connector.
Connect the RP-TNC Male cable to the antenna.
The ThingMagic Sargas has an RP-SMA Female port. So, connect the RP-SMA Male end of the cable to the Sargas.
