ThingMagic M7e UHF RFID Embedded Modules
ThingMagic has released a new line of embedded RFID reader modules, based on the Impinj Ex10 RAIN RFID reader chip technology. The new M7e RFID embedded module family contains 5 individual RFID modules, with varying power levels and antenna ports.
The M7e family builds upon the success and widespread adoption of the popular M6e family, with enhancements like increased sensitivity, faster read rates, and better power utilization with the same small, embeddable form factor. Learn about the individual modules below.
ThingMagic M7e: Pico UHF RFID Embedded Module
The ThingMagic M7e Pico has the smallest form factor and the lowest transmit power and receive sensitivity but is ideal for shorter read range applications/RFID-enabled products. A few examples include RFID-enabled kiosks and vending machines, POS retail checkouts, product authentication applications, and tag commissioning stations.
ThingMagic Pico Highlights:
- Transmit Power: 24 dBm
- Rx Sensitivity: -80 dBm
- Read Rate: 300 tags/second
- Read Range: 3 m (10 ft)
- Antenna Ports: 1
- Available Options: Module Carrier Board; Module Development Kit

ThingMagic M7e: Deka UHF RFID Embedded Module.
The ThingMagic M7E Deka has a similar size form factor as the Pico, but a slight increase in transmit power, resulting in a slight read range increase. Ideal applications include RFID-enabled kiosks and vending machines, POS retail or pharmaceutical checkouts, and tag commissioning stations.
ThingMagic Deka Highlights:
- Transmit Power: 27 dBm
- Rx Sensitivity: -80 dBm
- Read Rate: 300 tags/second
- Read Range: 4.5 m (15 ft)
- Antenna Ports: 1
- Replaces: ThingMagic M6e Nano
- Available Options: Module Development Kit

ThingMagic M7E: Hecto UHF RFID Embedded Module
The ThingMagic M7e Hecto is built on the same Impinj Reader Chip as the Deka and Pico – the Impinj E310, with a slightly larger form factor. This embedded reader module is very similar to the Deka, and only available for existing Nano embedded reader module customers.
ThingMagic Hecto Highlights:
Identical to the Deka, except a larger form factor listed below.
- Deka Size: 18 x 21 x 3 mm (0.71 x 0.83 x 0.12 in)
- Hecto Size: 22 x 26 x 3 mm (0.866 x 1 x 0.12 in)

ThingMagic M7E: Mega UHF RFID Embedded Module
The ThingMagic M7e Mega embedded module is based on the Impinj E510 reader chip. It has a larger form factor than the previous modules as well as increased transmit power, better receive sensitivity, and two available antenna ports. The M7e Deka is ideal for RFID applications like drug and inventory management, people and asset tracking, and creating an RFID-enabled printer, handheld, or sensor device.
ThingMagic Mega Highlights:
- Transmit Power: 30 dBm
- Rx Sensitivity: -87 dBm
- Read Rate: 600 tags/second
- Read Range: 9 m (30 ft)
- Antenna Ports: 2
- Replaces: ThingMagic M6e Micro
- Available Options: Module Development Kit

ThingMagic M7E: Tera UHF RFID Embedded Module
The ThingMagic M7e Tera is built on the Impinj E710 reader chip and boasts the most read range and highest read rate of the series. The M7e Tera has a high transmit power, increased read sensitivity, and four antenna ports. The M7e Tera is ideal for creating a finished RFID reader, an RFID-enabled device like an RFID printer, handheld mobile computers, or sensor devices because of the high read rate and read range.
ThingMagic Tera Highlights:
- Transmit Power: 31.5 dBm
- Rx Sensitivity: -93 dBm
- Read Rate: 800 tags/second
- Read Range: 12 m (36 ft)
- Antenna Ports: 4
- Replaces: ThingMagic M6e-M and M6e-A
- Available Options: Module Carrier Board; Module Development Kit
